Germany-based SenseUP secured a total of EUR 3 million in 2025, adding to the EUR 2.4 million that was reported in May last year.
SenseUP’s COO/CFO Fabio Paltenghi told New AG International that the company held a seed round extension bringing the total for 2025 to EUR 3 million.
Based in Cologne, the company is a spin-out from the multidisciplinary research centre Forschungszentrum Jülich and uses precision fermentation to produce dsRNA-based biopesticides.
The funding round was led by Capnamic, an early-stage venture capital firm, and included Simon Capital, Rockstart, CHECK24 Impact and HBG Ventures.
SenseUP develops targeted dsRNA actives that can disrupt the internal functions of an insect, fungus or virus. “This process is specific to the targeted pest, disease or virus, making them eco-friendly,” says the company’s website. “Our products will be applied as a spray, soil or seed solution.”
The company uses a Corynebacterium-based fermentative platform, which it says provides the affordable and scalable production of encapsulated dsRNA.
The seed capital will be used to accelerate the development of SenseUP’s product portfolio, scale the team across several functions and expand strategic collaborations, the company said in its statement announcing the latest round.
In May 2025, SenseUP closed a EUR 2.4 million seed round led by Capnamic, with participation from HBG Ventures, CHECK24 Impact, and Rockstart. Read here
