Carbon Robotics has announced a “major breakthrough” in agricultural technology with the launch of what they claim is the world’s first Large Plant Model (LPM), designed to transform weed control and crop management.

Trained on a dataset of 150 million labeled plants, the LPM enables farmers to begin laser weeding any field or crop in minutes, offering precision and adaptability.

The LPM powers Carbon Robotics’ LaserWeeder and Autonomous Tractor Kit (ATK).

“When our robots can understand any plant in any field immediately and adapt behaviour in real-time, farmers immediately get maximum value from the machines,” said Paul Mikesell, founder and CEO of Carbon Robotics. “The Large Plant Model provides farmers with the most advanced AI technology to maximize the weeding quality of LaserWeeder in their unique environments.”

The LPM powers Carbon Robotics’ LaserWeeder and Autonomous Tractor Kit (ATK), enabling smarter weed control and dependable tractor autonomy. A new feature, Plant Profiles, allows farmers to tailor the LPM to their specific crops and field conditions by uploading just two or three images via an iPad app. The system adapts instantly, optimizing performance without the lengthy input or delays required by other systems, according to the company.
