ICL Group has opened a new water-soluble fertilizer production site in Maharashtra, the state in western India.

By manufacturing water-soluble fertilizers (WSF) within India, ICL aims to reduce dependence on cross-border supply chains, diversify production routes and ensure more reliable access to essential agricultural inputs, said the company in its statement.

The WSF sector in India has seen high single-digit CAGR, continued the company.

The new plant will span 28,000 sqm and will replicate ICL’s production model in Israel. ICL has worked with partners and customers in India for more than three decades. During that time, the company has generated approximately $250 million in annual revenues, said the company.

Nir Ilani President of ICL Growing Solutions, added: “Establishing this manufacturing plant in India is a strategic step in scaling our specialty fertilizer production platform… This facility enhances India’s supply resilience and ensures farmers have consistent access to high-quality solutions.”
