Former MD of AlgaEnergy, Carlos Rodríguez-Villa Förster has launched Phoenix Biosolutions.
In a launch letter published on social media, Förster said that Phoenix is not a product company.
“We are a service partner – working hand-in-hand with distributors, cooperatives and large-scale farmers to establish turn-key microalgae biostimulants production facilities, transferring to them our know-how, so they can produce their own biostimulants locally.”
The business model is designed to be disruptive, Förster continued. “It empowers distributors with higher margins and a competitive edge, offering them more protection to develop their own market penetration strategies.”
Förster said that the business will look to shorten supply chains, “democratizing innovation and making sustainability scalable.”
The new company will involve several well-known industry figures. “It’s my immense pleasure and real privilege to launch this together with my co-founders and team mates: Arne Pingel, Miguel Rodríguez-Villa Förster, David Hiltz and with my father Augusto Rodríguez-Villa as Chairman.”
In June 2025, Förster was elected as president of the European Biostimulants Industry Council (EBIC).
