Chengdu Newsun Crop Science Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese innovator in sustainable agricultural solutions, delivered a keynote presentation at the 2025 Biocontrol & Biostimulants LATAM, organised by New AG International, titled “Application of Functional Natural Metabolites Facing Abiotic & Biotic Stresses in Agriculture.

In the session, Dr. Huang Jin, Head of Newsun’s Bio-Regulation & Biostimulant Innovation Center, unveiled a portfolio of pioneering technologies, including:

Coronatine – a proprietary microbial-derived plant growth regulator that enhances crop resilience and yield under challenging conditions. Recent field trials in Brazil’s key soybean- and corn-producing regions showed outstanding performance under drought stress, with treated crops demonstrating stronger growth, improved stress recovery, and visibly higher yields compared to untreated plots. These results have reinforced coronatine’s potential as a game-changing tool for farmers facing increasingly erratic climate conditions in Latin America.

• Next-generation botanical acaricide from sand ginger extract – a multi-target, plant-derived solution that effectively controls mite eggs, nymphs and adults. Its diverse active compound profile offers a low risk of resistance development, while maintaining efficacy comparable to leading chemical acaricides. Field evaluations confirmed its high control performance alongside excellent crop safety and reduced environmental footprint.

Advanced biostimulants from novel natural resources – unlike conventional products based on amino acids or seaweed extracts, Newsun’s biostimulants are developed from under-utilized natural sources rich in unique bioactive compounds. These new-resource formulations are designed to deliver targeted functional benefits, helping crops withstand abiotic stress such as drought, while also supporting quality improvement and yield stability.

These innovations drew strong interest from participants across Latin America’s agricultural sector. During the Q&A session, an industry representative sought Dr. Huang’s insights on the process and best practices for achieving biostimulant registration in the European Union—highlighting Newsun’s growing reputation as a global thought leader in biologicals.

Dr. Huang emphasized Newsun’s commitment to driving the global adoption of plant-derived biological solutions, stating:

“We are ready to work hand-in-hand with our industry partners to advance regulatory frameworks, enabling broader access to safe, effective, and sustainable biologicals worldwide.”

The presentation reinforced Newsun’s dedication to integrating innovation, sustainability, and international collaboration to help farmers worldwide address pressing agricultural challenges.
