Pivot Bio says it delivered a record-breaking performance in 2024 with its nitrogen-fixing product PROVEN 40 for corn growers in the US, and its new product CERT-N for cotton.
In the company’s impact report for 2024, Pivot Bio said that its Proven 40 product had delivered a yield parity while saving 37+ pounds of nitrogen across 172 fields in 97 counties in 20 states.
The company said this equated to a 16% improvement in nitrogen-use efficiency compared to traditional fertilizer. This was combined with a 25% price reduction.
Availability of the product has also increased with nearly 500 new retail locations.
Chris Abbott, chief executive officer of Pivot Bio said: “Our biggest goal is to fundamentally improve crop nutrition. That’s exactly what we’re doing, bringing together more partners to serve farmers in a bigger, better way.”
Regarding market expansion, the company expanded beyond corn and made “small grains with CERT-N, the first gene-edited nitrogen-fixing product for cotton. It replaces 20% of synthetic nitrogen while increasing lint yield by 50 pounds per acre – resulting in a 200% ROI in its first year.”
When giving an overview of its measurable impact since 2022 the company said growers using Pivot Bio products had “used more than 129,000 metric tons less synthetic nitrogen fertilizer, conserved more than 665 million gallons of manufacturing water, and avoided more than 102,600 metric tons of nitrate leaching.”
