Coffee Latam returns to Campinas, Brazil, at the end of July. Co-located alongside Biocontrol & Biostimulants Latam, the two events offer delegates a shared exhibition and networking experience.

Complete with immersive farm visit and conference programme, Coffee Latam is co-organised with Café World Summit. “Our immersive farm visit provides hands-on experience with regenerative practices, making this event truly one-of-a-kind,” said Rosie Allen, senior conference producer for Coffee Latam.

“This year, we’re focusing on regenerative agriculture, climate adaptation, market diversification, and strategies to build resilient coffee supply chains.”

To find out more about Coffee Latam and the background to the event, New AG International spoke to Roger Plana, Managing Director, Café World Summit.

Coffee Latam – tell us about the event and what makes it different from other coffee events out there?
Coffee Latam is different because it is an event created by coffee producers for coffee producers. We understand the real challenges that farmers face every harvest, but even more importantly, we know how to communicate useful information that helps them make better decisions on their farms.
The real difference is in the content. The agenda, the speakers, and the organizing team all have strong experience working closely with coffee farms. This allows us to focus on the topics that are most relevant and valuable for producers.

What does the Café World Summit bring to Coffee Latam?
Café World Summit started on a coffee farm in Costa Rica. Its goal was to share research results from a collaboration between two organizations in a simple and transparent way.
Over the years, this spirit of collaboration helped the event grow. We built a coffee community across Central America, launched our YouTube channel, and expanded the event to an international audience.
In 2024, we reached an important milestone by organizing a three-day international event at the Costa Rica Convention Center. In 2025, together with New AG International/Informa, we participated in Coffee Latam in Brazil for the first time. The response was very positive, and we are excited to return this year.

You mentioned that coffee production was strong last year and this might weigh on the coffee prices at the commodity level. Why does this make events such as Coffee Latam even more important?
Every coffee harvest is different, and farmers must make decisions based on changing conditions. Production, prices, weather, and costs can change every year.
Over time, we have learned that the information farmers need also changes. We use this as a guide when preparing the event program, making sure the topics are useful for the current situation.
Brazil is expected to produce one of its best coffee harvests in history, and we want Coffee Latam to support producers by providing practical knowledge that helps them make the best decisions.

The Coffee Latam programme looks super strong this year – what are you looking forward to hearing about?
Our goal every year is to improve and offer an even better program than the year before. We always try to meet the expectations of producers, sponsors, and everyone involved.
This year we have an excellent program with experts from different areas of the coffee industry. I am especially looking forward to the discussions that combine science with practical experience, because that is where farmers can find the greatest value.

The co-location with Biocontrol and Biostimulants Latam makes sense – what is the level of penetration of bio-inputs into coffee production?
This is a strategic decision. It allows us to connect the coffee industry with new technologies and scientific developments that will become more important in the coming years.
Agriculture is changing very quickly, and producers need to understand these new tools. Many people talk about biostimulants, but few understand how to use them correctly in the field and what their real potential is for coffee production.
Bringing these two events together creates a great opportunity for learning and innovation.

The location Campinas has a special place for coffee history in Brazil – can you elaborate?
There are two important reasons. First, Brazil is the world’s leading producer of both Arabica and Robusta coffee, so hosting Coffee Latam here is very important for the event.
Second, Campinas is close to major arabica coffee-producing regions. This is not by chance. Our strategy is to be closer to producers instead of asking them to travel long distances.
We believe that understanding farmers means meeting them where they are and creating an event that is easy for them to attend and useful for their daily work.

And finally, there’s a site visit to a coffee farm as part of the event. What can delegates learn on this excursion?
Including a field visit is also part of our philosophy. Talking about coffee on a coffee farm, together with coffee producers, creates a completely different learning experience.
A farm is where ideas become reality. Participants can see technologies, management practices, and production challenges directly in the field. It also creates a more open environment where producers, researchers, and industry professionals can share experiences and learn from each other.
We could stay in a hotel meeting room, but we prefer to work with our partners to open the doors of their farms and create conversations where coffee really happens. This is one of the things that makes Coffee Latam special.
