Yemen’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Abdulmalik Al-Thawr, has inaugurated a solar energy-powered irrigation system project dedicated to irrigating coffee trees.
The project is located in the Bilad Al-Ghalf area of Bani Matar District in Sanaa Province, benefiting four villages.
The Yemen government is encouraging farmers in Bani Matar to expand coffee cultivation. Al-Thawr pointed out that the ministry is working to implement similar projects in the rest of the districts and provinces, in coordination with financiers and supporting agencies.
He noted that the project comes within the framework of the state’s great interest in developing agricultural production and achieving self-sufficiency from a coffee crop, which has had a reputation for high quality.
