Syngenta has acquired Intrinsyx Bio, a California-based start-up specializing in the development of nutrient use efficiency products.

Syngenta says the acquisition is aimed at “accelerating the development and deployment of cutting-edge nutrient use efficiency (NUE) solutions by combining Intrinsyx Bio’s innovative technology and pipeline with Syngenta’s global R&D and commercial capabilities.”

Intrinsyx Bio develops products focused on NUE, including the Syngenta biological seed treatment NUELLO iN. The company’s products are currently commercialized in the U.S., UK, Benelux and Iberia, with plans for expansion into other markets.

Syngenta and Intrinsyx had previously announced a collaboration to bring a biological solution to market.
