Testing and compliance specialist Smithers has opened a new Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) compliant laboratory located in Wareham, Massachusetts, USA.
“This expanded facility enhances our biopesticide testing capabilities, offering increased capacity for analytical dose-verification and the ability to perform Analysis of Samples (5-Batch) and Storage Stability testing,” said the company.
The BSL-2 laboratory containment standards enable the safe handling and analysis of microorganisms for testing required as part of product regulatory packages, including environmental toxicology studies.
“Our decades of experience in testing microbial pesticides have positioned us to offer customized, reliable studies. The opening of our BSL-2 laboratory is a major step forward in our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients,” said Gus Zieske, Vice President, North America, Smithers Environmental Risk Sciences Division. “This new facility allows us to expand our testing offerings in the crop protection industry while maintaining a focus on delivering accurate data, on time, with high touch.”
