The nominees for IBMA’s annual Bernard Blum biocontrol awards have been announced with the winners being crowned at the Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting (ABIM) in October.
Now in its tenth year, the Bernard Blum Awards are given to innovative biocontrol products that have a high impact on pests and diseases while a low impact on human health and the environment.
There are four awards to be made, selected by an independent jury. The judges focus on scientific foundation and merit, the degree of innovation, the contribution to sustainable agriculture and the commercial opportunity.
This year, IBMA has received over 20 applications. “The extent and scope of the applications was impressive and reflects the growth and development of the biocontrol industry,” said IBMA.
There are three awards for innovative products (gold, silver, bronze) and another for an innovative product assisting the uptake of biocontrol.
The nominees for this year are (in alphabetical order):
• Amoéba
• BioFirst
• DCM
• IPL Biologicals
• NewLeaf Symbiotics
• Platypus
• Valent Biosciences
New AG International has been a media supporter of the awards since the inaugural Bernard Blum award in 2015.
