yieldsAPP, Fermata partner to leverage AI

AI-based startups yieldsAPP and Fermata have partnered to merge their technologies, offering a “comprehensive farm management solution” to agricultural growers.

Both Israeli-based companies, Fermata uses cameras and artifical intelligence to monitor crops as they grow and automatically detect problems, while yieldsAPP translates that data into tailored recommendations, crop by crop, field by field, to maximize yields.

According to Guy Sela, yieldsAPP CEO, the collaboration “creates a comprehensive solution for crop protection.”

“Fermata uses cameras and computer vision to monitor crops, detect and identify issues in real time, whether it’s pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies. This allows for immediate awareness of potential threats, helping farmers to catch problems early and prevent them from escalating,” said Sela on LinkedIn. “At the same time, yieldsApp’s dynamic crop protection protocols kick in, analyzing the data and providing tailored, data-driven recommendations.”

Leveraging advanced data sources from local weather data analysis, crop models, and satellite imagery combined with advanced computer vision, Fermata’s Croptimus technology and yieldsApp agronomic management platform will enhance plant treatment through personalized recommendations on fertilization and pesticides. Sela notes that the merge between yieldsApp’s field-specific treatment protocols and Croptimus’s advanced machine learning algorithms and computer vision system brings a comprehensive farm management solution, perfecting the detection and mitigation of diseases and nutrient deficiencies.

“Our platform doesn’t just flag issues – it recommends precise treatments and interventions based on the specific conditions in the field,” noted Sela. “From selecting the best plant protection methods to determining optimal timing, yieldsApp guides farmers through every step of the decision-making process, ensuring efficient, timely responses to any crop protection challenge.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture states that hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of crops every year are lost to pests and disease, in addition to climate change, air pollution and wildfires. Pests alone claim between 20 percent and 40 percent of global crop production.

“Fermata’s partnership with yieldsApp transforms our detection technology from problem identification into a comprehensive management solution, significantly enhancing the value of our data,” says Valeria Kogan, CEO and founder of Fermata. “At Fermata, we understand that the industry thrives on collaborations to maximize potential. By combining the expertise of Fermata and yieldsApp, we’re paving the way for more efficient and effective management strategies in the agre-tech sector.”
