French company M2i Group and Chinese company Pherobio, both experts in pheromones for biological crop protection, have entered into a cooperation agreement.
This alliance covers the mutual supply of active ingredients and reciprocal commercial arrangements for the distribution of finished products in their respective markets, as well as a general framework for deeper technological collaboration and joint innovation. The long-term agreement includes technical, industrial and commercial cooperation.
By leveraging their complementary assets, M2i Group and Pherobio aim to accelerate the development and registration of new pheromone-based solutions, shorten the time-to-market for innovative products, and broaden the range of targets and crops covered.
“I am very pleased to conclude this highly synergistic partnership between our highly complementary product lines, technology platforms and geographic footprints,” said Philippe Guerret, chief executive officer of M2i Group.
The companies note this closer collaboration is expected to “significantly speed up the deployment of next-generation biocontrol technologies and bring additional, sustainable tools to farmers facing increasing regulatory and environmental constraints,” adding the partnership has a particular focus on protecting maize and rice against key insect pests.
In addition, the companies aim to shorten the time-to-market for innovative products and broaden the range of targets and crops covered.
“We are delighted to partner with M2i Group, whose leadership in biocontrol and international presence perfectly complement Pherobio’s strengths in pheromone innovation and manufacturing in China,” said Cui Yinzhong, chief executive officer of Pherobio. “By joining forces, we will be able to accelerate the development and adoption of pheromone-based solutions in major crops and key markets, and provide farmers with more effective and environmentally friendly alternatives for pest management.”
