FMC boss optimistic on biologicals in 2H 2025 and refocus on Brazil

June 12, 2025

FMC’s CEO Pierre R Brondeau said the company is focused on growth, particularly through its four new active ingredients and biologicals.

“We have a suite of new biological products,” he told the audience at yesterday’s Wells Fargo Industrials Conference, 11 June 2025.

FMC Corporation announced last year a collaboration in Canada with Novonesis where FMC Canada became the exclusive distributor of Novonesis’ biosolution products, including brands TagTeam, Optimize, JumpStart, BioniQ, Cell-Tech, and Nitragin, for the 2025 growing season.

Brondeau also said the company is penetrating new market segments in Brazil with a new sales team. “Those salespeople, agronomists, tech service people know those customers. They have been trained, and the commercial discussions have started to take place.”

FMC has also made a change to its marketing regions. “We went to five regions because we wanted to break down Latin America into Brazil and Latin America, because we believe Brazil is big enough of a market that it deserves its own focus.”

Brondeau also provided insight on why prices have increased in the generics segment. Chinese manufacturers had produced more inventory than they could sell to markets such as India, Argentina, and Turkey. These manufacturers were sitting on enormous inventory, said Brondeau, and had to convert to cash and sell at prices below the manufacturing cost. That inventory has now been sold down and Brondeau says supply is becoming more stretched and prices are going up.
