Engage Crop Solutions has received a landmark registration in Mexico for its water-saving technology Aqualatus®, the first product of its kind in the market.

The company’s distributor in Mexico, Aqualatus Mexico is excited to receive the first delivery of commercial product during October 2026. Aqualatus Mexico is based in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and has conducted positive field trials on numerous crops across Mexico over the last two years.

Albero Curiel, managing director at Aqualatus Mexico, said: “Securing Aqualatus registration is a major milestone. Water scarcity is already constraining crop production across Mexico, and growers will welcome this unique technology, that helps them produce more with less water.”

Aqualatus, developed by UK agri-tech innovator Engage Crop Solutions, can cut irrigation water use by up to 50% while improving crop water-use efficiency and maintaining yields. By enabling growers to produce more with less water, it offers a practical response to global water scarcity and rising food demand.

Aqualatus has undergone over ten years of global trials, including Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the USA.

More than 350 field trials across 20 countries underpin the company’s claims. Its global partner network continues to expand this evidence base, while Aqualatus’s carbon-based composition supports soil health.

Curiel said the Mexican trials delivered compelling results: “Aqualatus® reduced water consumption, improved soil water holding capacity, increased yield and generated a positive financial return for growers. That combination really appeals to our customers.”

Following the registration news, Aqualatus Mexico and Engage Crop Solutions are heading to Expo AgroAlimentaria Guanajuato, Mexico in November to launch the Aqualatus technology.
