Eden Research becomes Eden BioSolutions

October 1, 2026

Eden Research plc has changed its name to Eden BioSolutions plc, reflecting its focus on biopesticides, biocontrol products and formulation technologies for sustainable agriculture.

The name change was registered at UK’s Companies House on September 30 and took effect the same day. The company said a new corporate website is expected to launch in November, with further details to be announced.

Eden BioSolutions develops and supplies biopesticide products and natural microencapsulation technologies for the global crop protection, animal health and consumer products markets.

Its agricultural products are based primarily on terpene active ingredients derived from natural plant defence compounds. The company said its products have so far been used mainly in high-value fruit and vegetable crops, where they are designed to provide crop protection while supporting integrated pest management programmes.

Eden currently has three products in its portfolio.

Mevalone is a foliar biofungicide based on plant-derived active ingredients. It initially targets diseases affecting grapes and other high-value fruit and vegetable crops. The product is approved for sale in several countries, while Eden and its partners continue to pursue regulatory approvals in additional markets.

Cedroz is a bionematicide targeting free-living nematodes that affect a range of high-value fruit and vegetable crops. The product is registered for sale on two continents, with Eden’s commercial collaborator, Eastman Chemical, pursuing further registrations and commercialization in additional countries.

Ecovelex is a seed treatment developed to address crop damage caused by birds, including losses in maize. Approval was expected in 2026. The product uses Eden’s plant-derived chemistry to create an unpleasant taste or odour that repels birds from treated seed without harming them.

Ecovelex is formulated using Eden’s Sustaine microencapsulation technology. Sustaine is designed to encapsulate active ingredients using naturally derived, biodegradable microspheres made from yeast. The company said the technology can be used with natural and synthetic compounds to improve their performance and ease of use.

The encapsulation system is also intended to provide an alternative to plastic-based technologies in formulations requiring microencapsulation, addressing concerns around microplastics.

Eden BioSolutions said its technology platform is intended to support the development of crop protection products based on naturally occurring plant chemistry while providing formulation options for a broader range of active ingredients.
