Moa Technology has raised £22.2 million (US$29.6 million) in a Series C financing round to advance the development of new herbicides with novel modes of action aimed at helping farmers manage herbicide-resistant weeds.
The funding round was co-led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Supernova Invest, with new investors including Agri Investment Fund, GrainInnovate, Infinity Investment Partners and Magdalen College Oxford. Existing investors Oxford Science Enterprises, Lansdowne Partners, Parkwalk and Oxford University Innovation also participated.
The investment will support the company’s three most advanced herbicide programs as they move closer to commercialization. It will also fund the expansion of Moa’s pipeline of early-stage herbicide candidates and further development of its Moa Amplifiers program, a new product category designed to reduce the amount or concentration of herbicides needed in the field. The equity financing will be supplemented by upfront and milestone payments from current and future industry partners.
Spun out of Oxford University in 2017, Moa said its technology platform has identified more than 80 novel mode-of-action areas that work differently from existing herbicides, offering new options to manage resistant weeds. Following laboratory and greenhouse validation, its leading programs are now being evaluated in international field trials.
In 2025, Moa also introduced its Moa Amplifiers platform. Unlike conventional herbicides, the products are not herbicidal on their own but are intended to improve the performance of existing herbicides while reducing application rates.

The funding follows a period of commercial growth for the company. During the past two years, Moa has established research and development collaborations with Nufarm, Gowan, Certis Belchim and Corteva Agriscience to develop new weed-control technologies. The company said it expects to add further industry partnerships.
