The Irritec Group has acquired a majority stake in Agrifim de Colombia S.A.S., a pioneering company in the introduction of drip irrigation technology in Colombia.
With this acquisition, Irritec – one of the world’s leading precision irrigation manufacturers headquartered in Italy and present in over 100 countries – strengthens its presence in Latin America.
The strategic plan includes the modernization and expansion of Agrifim’s production facility, along with the introduction of new production lines equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. Irritec indicated this will allow the optimization of logistics costs, an expanded product offering, and reduced delivery times, ensuring Colombian farmers have access to more efficient and affordable technological solutions.
The operation will also include the creation of a technology transfer and training center, fostering innovation in products tailored to local agriculture and generating skilled employment.
“Investing in Colombia means investing in more efficient and resilient agriculture. Our goal is to adapt global solutions to local challenges by combining technological innovation with deep local roots,” said Carmelo Giuffrè, founder and chairman of Irritec Group.
Francesco Quagliozzi, general manager of Irritec Group, added: “This acquisition strengthens our global strategy: international presence and strong local foundations. We want to work alongside Colombian farmers, providing them with the tools they need to tackle the challenges of climate change and productivity.”
The partnership with Irritec represents a technological leap for Agrifim, noted Amalia Becerra, Agrifim general manager. Together with Jorge Sánchez and Álvaro Sanjinés, co-founders and board members of Agrifim Colombia, Becerra added the move “will allow us to upgrade and expand our production capacity, combining our local experience with the advanced technology of a global leader.”
