Key Speakers and Papers announced for ABIM Lucerne 2008 Congress

The third Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting (ABIM-Lucerne), will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland on 20th and 21st October 2008.
ABIM is organised by the International Biocontrol Industry Association (IBMA) in collaboration with the Swiss Research Institute for Organic Farming (FiBL) under the sponsorship of Ms Marian Fischer Boel, European Commissioner for Agriculture and the Swiss government in order to provide a technical and business platform for persons and organisations working on the development of alternative and biological plant protection systems:

  • Biocontrol agent/product industries
  • Distributors and retailers
  • Scientists and extension services
  • Consultants
  • Providers of technical and scientific services
  • Regulators and policy makers

ABIM-Lucerne 08 will cover the following topics:

  • News relative to the EU plant protection regulatory environment (Pesticide Regulation and Framework Directive) : Anne Cecile Cotillon, DG Environment
  • Development of IPM in Europe and the special case of France : Pierre Ricci, Coordinator of the NoE Endure, permanent secretary of "Académie d'Agriculture de France", and Guy Paillotin head of the ECOPHYTO 2018 Committee
  • R&D systems and programmes available to the industry for the development of innovative products : Jean Claude Villettaz, EUROAGRI, EUROSEARCH, Viviane Boutinard-Rouelle, Relais Innovation- DG Enterprise
  • The role of fresh products retailers and supermarkets in the development of biological control : GlobalGap
  • The biocontrol market situation and prospects in Spain, France and India
  • Presentation of New biological products : Beneficial insects, micro-organisms, semiochemicals and natural extracts

As usual ABIM-Lucerne will offer poster and exhibition stands to companies and organisations dedicated to the promotion and the sales of biological plant protection products. Facilities are also offered for business meetings.
