The Third Annual SOPIB International Award goes to two Egyptian Scientists
The Sulphate of Potash Information Board (SOPIB- whose members are: Great Salt Lake Minerals Corporation, K+S Kali GmbH, SQM SA and Tessenderlo Chemie NV/SA.) recently announced that its Board of Directors has unanimously decided to share the annual SOPIB International Award equally between Dr. Abd El Hadi from the Agricultural Research Centre in Cairo - Egypt and Dr. El Kadi from the Desert Research Centre in Cairo - Egypt. The SOPIB International Award is presented each year in recognition of research that has led to a significant advance in the use of potassium sulphate to increase crop production and/or quality.
Dr. Abd El Hadi has a considerable experience in plant nutrition and the SOPIB International Award is a recognition of his outstanding research efforts, focused on use of sulphate of potash (SOP) in balanced fertilization to improve crop production and quality in Egyptian agriculture.
Dr. El Kadi is an expert in crop production under desert conditions. His experience in new reclaimed areas in Egypt and numbers of experiments on the use of sulphate of potash (SOP) in arid climate agriculture are today recognized with the SOPIB International Award.
SOPIB has invited Dr. Abd El Hadi and Dr. El Kadi to the November 2006 International Horti Fair in Amsterdam, where the SOPIB Board presented Dr. Abd El Hadi and Dr. El Kadi with the $5,000 prize.
