The 16th International Plant Nutrition Colloquium (IPNC) will be held at the Sacramento Convention Center in Sacramento, California from August 26-30, 2009. Since its inception in the early 1950’s, the IPNC has grown to become the most important international meeting on fundamental and applied Plant Nutrition from both an agricultural and environmental context.
The theme for the 2009 Colloquium, “Plant Nutrition for Sustainable Development and Global Health” aims to highlight the importance of plant nutrition as a foundation science with impact on all aspects of cropping system and environmental sustainability, human health and well being. The 16th International Plant Nutrition Colloquium will provide a forum that increases the understanding of the fundamental principles of plant nutrition, helps develop and extend optimized field practices and improved public policies, and educates students, scientists and public and private practitioners.

This colloquium, which follows the highly successful one held in Beijing in 2005, promises to be another exciting gathering of top scientists, students, and the public and private sector involved in the field of plant nutrition, plant biology, agronomy, horticulture, ecology, environmental sciences and related disciplines. With close to 1000 presenters and attendees from greater than 60 countries expected to join, the colloquium will provide an excellent forum for presentations and discussions on current and developing issues in the field of plant nutrition.
